Queen’s bridesmaid, Lady Pamela Hicks, 88, suffering pneumonia is left on NHS trolley for 20 HOURS due to ‘bed shortage’
ONE of the Queen's bridesmaids was kept on a hospital trolley for 20 hours while suffering from pneumonia, her daughter claims.
Seriously ill Lady Pamela Hicks was allegedly left on the NHS trolley for almost a day due to bed shortages, before being put in the neuroscience ward.
The 88-year-old's daughter wrote about her experience in the unnamed hospital after her mum - the daughter of Lord Mountbatten and a cousin of Prince Philip - collapsed in the middle of the night.
She posted on Instagram: "Having the excitement of an ambulance rush her to hospital in the middle of the night she was then kept on a gurney for 20 hours before the NHS found her an available bed.
"In the Neuroscience Ward. It's that time of year. Hospitals are busy."
Lady Pamela is thought to have been admitted to a hospital last week near her Oxfordshire home.

The former model, who has also recently suffered from pneumonia - said her mum was helped by her brother Ashley before being taken to hospital.
The NHS has seen pressure rise over the winter due to rising flu levels - this has led to operation cancellations and a lack of bed space.
Lady Pamela, widow of David Hicks, : "I arrived in A&E on a busy, busy, busy night.
"I stayed in hospital for about three days. I'm now recovering from pneumonia at home.
"The NHS were brilliant. The staff were fantastic and I had wonderful care when I was in hospital."

Lady Pamela was one of the Queen's eight bridesmaids in 1947 and has accompanied her on several tours.
Her father was killed by the IRA in 1979 when a bomb exploded on his fishing boat.
Last year it was reported she was put in an office chair at her local hospital as no wheelchairs were available.
