Benefits cheat claims more than £100,000 by saying she was a single mum — and her husband was a gay mate
The 38-year-old wife has been ordered to repay back £100,000 in £60 monthly payments which will take 147 years
A MARRIED benefits cheat stole more than £100,000 lying she was a struggling single mum.
Agnieszka Pryzbylska, 38, claimed her husband — dad to two of her children — was a gay friend and they were not a couple.
She later argued that he lived nearby and only called to feed her fish.
She came clean after a probe and must repay at £60 a month, which will take 147 years.
Mum-of-three Pryzbylska, was quizzed twice in February and July 2016 after investigators saw her husband’s car outside her house mornings and nights.
His TV and driving licence applications were registered there and he told his bosses it was his address.
Julian Goode, prosecuting, said “She suggested the man she was with was gay and they were not a couple.
“She did admit he was the father of her two children.
“In the second interview she provided a tenancy agreement which claimed to show he lived with his brother and not with her.
She said he would come round to her address early in the morning to feed her fish.”
Pryzbylska, of Accrington, Lancs, admitted fraudulently claiming £106,133 in five years — £91,411 in tax credits, £14,722 in housing and council tax benefit.
Judge Beverley Lunt jailed her for 20 months but suspended the sentence as Pryzbylska is now working and had not “frittered” the cash away “on high living or gambling”, Burnley crown court was told.
