Ex-England defender Ugo Ehiogu left £1.1million in his will after debt slashed his £5.9million fortune
The football ace, 44, died of cardiac arrest last April after collapsing as he coached Spurs' under-23 team
TRAGIC ex-England soccer ace Ugo Ehiogu left just £1.1million in his will.
The former Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Rangers defender died from cardiac arrest last April aged 44.
He earned £20,000-a-week at the height of his career after signing for Boro for £8 million in October 2000.
But despite leaving a fortune of £5.9 million, debts and other financial affairs slashed his estate to little more than a million, official records showed.
The money will now be held in trust for his wife, Gemma, 40, and children Obi Jackson and Jodie.
Ehiogu died after collapsing at Tottenham’s training ground when he worked as a coach to the under-23 team.
Medics tried to revive him but he died the next day.
Ehiogu played for Aston Villa and Middlesbrough more than 350 times, and also earned four caps for England, scoring against Spain in 2001.
The centre-back spent nine years at Aston Villa before moving to Middlesbrough in 2000 for £8million.
He retired in 2009 to begin his coaching career at Tottenham.
