TWISTED Valentine’s Day gunman Nikolas Cruz threatened to kill his ex-lover’s new boyfriend and attacked him twice – months before slaughtering 17 in class.
The 19-year-old sent a series of vile messages to 17-year-old Enea Sabadini after he started dating Cruz’s ex-girlfriend.
They were sent months before Cruz shot dead 17 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, Florida, with an AR-15 rifle.
One message said: “I’m going to f****** kill you. I am going to shoot you dead. I'm going to watch you bleed.”
Cruz, also a member of a white nationalist group, repeatedly used homophobic and racial slurs in the message exchange, calling him a “f*****” and “n*****”.
He added: “You underground Hispanic wall jumper, ill (sic) will f****** destroy you.”
In another message, alongside a photo of a cache of weapons, Cruz wrote: “You have no idea what I'm capable of.”
Sabadini said he started dating Cruz's ex shortly after they broke up in August 2016.
The ex-girlfriend has said she does not want to be identified.
Sabadini said he ended up breaking it off with Cruz's ex in December 2016 and the most recent threatening messages from Cruz were sent several months later in August 2017.
He said: “He (Cruz) got upset about that and started sending messages to me on Instagram.”
The teen said Cruz also picked two fights with him in September 2016.
He claims Cruz charged at him during the second fight, part of which was captured on video, and Sabadini said he ended up punching him several times in the face.
Both students were suspended over the incident.
Sabadini claims he and several other students reported Cruz's social media messages and other threatening behaviour to school officials.
Cruz had already been expelled from the school when the messages were sent.
Sabadini said he doesn't know what led to his dismissal.
At school, Cruz routinely fought with teachers, was accused of swearing at staff and was referred for a “threat assessment” in January 2017.
Yesterday the two parents who took in Cruz before the massacre said they could not believe they had a “monster” living under their roof in Parkland.
Kimberly Snead, 49, a neonatal intensive care nurse, and husband James, 48, a military intelligence analyst, agreed to allow the 19-year-old live in their home after their son persuaded them.
Cruz's new home at the Snead residence came just days after his adoptive mother, Lynda Cruz, passed away from pneumonia on November 1.
Kimberly said: “We had this monster living under our roof and we didn't know.”

Her husband James added: “Everything everybody seems to know, we didn't know. It's as simple as that.”
The couple said Cruz had been “extremely depressed” after the death of his adoptive mum.
They said he was noticeably “immature” but seemed to be “growing happier” after moving into a new home.
The couple admitted they allowed the “gun-obsessed” teen to keep an AR-15 rifle in their home – but made him buy a locking safe to keep in his bedroom.
Inside the safe, were other various guns as well as knives.
Kimberly encouraged Cruz to attend therapy sessions for his said sadness after the passing of his adoptive mother – attending one just five days before the shooting.
The day of the massacre he told the couple: “It's Valentine's Day and I don't go to school on Valentine's Day”.

Cruz was taken into custody by the time Kimberly and James saw him for the first time since the massacre.
Kimberly attempted to charge after Cruz, but he held her back, while she told the killer: “Really, Nik? Really?'
James added: “He said he was sorry...he apologized. He looked lost, absolutely lost. That was the last time we saw him.”
Cruz is charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder and could face the death penalty.
