Analysis from Diabetes UK show 3.7million Brits are diagnosed with the disease — costing the NHS £10billion annually.
Experts claim a million more have the condition but are unaware. The worst affected was Bradford, where 10.4 per cent had the illness — the average across England is 6.6 per cent.
Diabetes UK chief Chris Askew said: “It is the fastest growing health crisis of our time.”
