Elton John’s late mum snubs him in £534,000 will for ex-PA who sparked their infamous feud who she had dubbed ‘like a son’

SIR Elton John’s late mum handed her son a final snub by giving a chunk of her fortune to the ex-PA who sparked their feud.

The superstar, 70, was left two ceramic urns in Sheila Farebrother’s will while Bob Halley got a slice of £534,000.

The 92-year-old, who died in December after seemingly healing their nine-year rift, also snubbed the singer’s sons Zachary and Elijah and husband David Furnish.

But former assistant and chauffeur Bob Halley — whose departure from Sir Elton’s inner circle in 2008 sparked the family feud — got half of her £534,000 fortune.

He knew nothing of the bequest until told by The Sun last night.

Speaking from his gated £2million West Sussex home, he said: “It’s a surprise to me. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

The other half was split between the Rocket Man legend’s half-brother Frederick Farebrother and Sheila’s friend Deborah Woodward.

Earlier today a source told The Sun: “Sir Elton is worth £300million, but it’s not the money that matters.

"It very much looks like Sheila was determined to make one final point to her son in her will.”

Sheila changed her will just three weeks before her death — leaving her superstar son two urns and some family photos.

Her will was signed on November 10 — 24 days before her death last year on December 4.

The only mention of Sir Elton comes in a brief paragraph that states: “I give to my son Elton John free of all taxes my two Batignani blue/gold urns and my photographs of mother in uniform and grandfather in uniform.”

Sheila said her son asked her to “drop” Bob when he left his entourage after 30 years.

But she refused saying Bob, 71, was “like a son”.

In 2015 she said of their row: “He told me I thought more of Bob Halley than I did of my own son. "I said to him, ‘And you think more of that f***ing thing you married than your own mother’.”

Sheila’s open attack on David Furnish led to a savage war of words between mother and son that lasted almost a decade.

She blamed Furnish, 55, for axing Bob and ex-manager John Reid, but Sir Elton’s friends claim Bob quit of his own accord.

The singer later said of his mother: “I don’t hate her, but I don’t want her in my life.”

But they appeared to have buried the hatchet in May last year as Sir Elton tweeted a heartfelt message to Sheila, saying: “Dear Mum, Happy Mother’s Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton.”

And after her funeral in December, he posted on Instagram to say: “Thank you for bringing me into the world and for all that you have done for me.”

Sir Elton’s representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
