Five months earlier he was caught with more than 1,000 images and 100 videos of children.

Defence lawyer Judith Benson said the attack meant Harris received trauma counselling which helped his behaviour.

She said he had been abused as a child.

Judge Deva Pillay said at Blackfriars crown court, London: “For well over a year you had been downloading and accessing this material, some of an extreme nature.

Harris was called a hero and a JustGiving page was set up which raised over £7,000

However to your credit you pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.”

Harris was celebrating a new job on the night of the attack but never took the role.

He moved back in with his mum in Ashington, Northumberland, and was put on anti-depressants.

A JustGiving page was set up to help his family and raised over £7,000, with pals branding him a legend and hero.

Harris admitted making indecent images.

He got a nine-month jail term, suspended for two years, and will go on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
