ASTONISHING video shows the moment a woman saved an unborn baby monkey's life by performing a c-section on its dead mother by the side of a road.

Padtama Kedkuerviriyanon — who has no medical training — remembered her own child's birth as she whipped out a blade and starting cutting.

Padtama, 36, who sells monkey food to tourists, saw one of the creatures hit by a car near a temple in Wat Khao No, Thailand.

She : “At that moment, I thought to myself the baby monkey would be dying inside its dead mother if I didn’t do anything to help save it.”

A relative filmed as she began carefully slicing the abdomen until the infant's head emerged.

The female baby appeared lifeless but Padtama gently massaged its tiny chest and blew into its mouth until it opened its eyes and started breathing.

Video of the amazing c-section operation was later posted on her Facebook page and was quickly shared on social media.

Padtama is now the baby's surrogate mother.

She says she takes it with her wherever she goes, sleeps with it in her bedroom and feeds it milk with a syringe.

She said: “I think I will have to take care of it until she grows up enough to live on her own, possibly a year or so.”

Earlier this week incredible photos showed a rare "bubble birth" when a baby girl was born with her head inside the amniotic sac.

Last year a mum posted photos of the moment she lifted her own baby from her womb during a c-section in Australia.
