A lad aged 19 and his 18-year-old girlfriend were dragged out of a house and subjected to a public shaming in Aceh, Indonesia
A TEEN couple have raw sewage poured over their heads by a vigilante mob in disturbing video posted online.
The boy and girl were subjected to a public shaming as punishment for "immoral acts" after they were reportedly caught alone together in a house.
The lad, 19, named only as AR, and his 18-year-old girlfriend identified as H were filmed on a bench as they were soaked with thick brown liquid from a sewer.
A man then appears to berate them before they are allowed to wash in a stream.
Police chief Nazarul Fitra confirmed the incident took place in Aceh province, Indonesia.
He said the girl had been visiting her boyfriend when they were dragged out of the house by a mob, .
Nazarul said: “H came to the house when no one else was there. The neighbours thought they were committing immoral acts.
“The angry mob had doused them with sewage when we arrived.”
The police chief said officers arrived too late to stop it. They found no evidence of wrongdoing by the young couple.
Aceh is the only province in the country to enforce sharia law, according to the Jakarta Post.
It was formally introduced in 2003 with the enactment of three bylaws banning alcohol, gambling and "socialising in secluded places".
Villagers are encouraged to snitch on neighbours - and some take the law into their own hands.
The teen couple are currently being held by the Wilayatul Hisba religious police.
It is reported they could face a sentence of public caning if they are found guilty of transgressing against sharia codes.
Police chief Nazarul said: “We are coordinating with the sharia police to process the case.”

Last year video showed another woman being whipped until she passed out in front of a baying crowd.
