LAST year London saw several shootings take place, many of them fatal.
But just how common is gun crime in London, and how many people were shot in 2018? Here's everything we know about the worrying epidemic.
How many shootings were there in 2018?
The total tally of murder victims in London had reached 92 by September 2018, with several of them the result of shootings.
These include 17-year-old Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton, who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting near his home in Kennington, South London, on May 5, 2018.
11 other people in the capital were shot dead last year, a Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed.
Tanesha Melbourne, 17, Amaan Shakoor, 16, Kelvin Odunuyi, 19, Bulent Kabala, 41, Joseph William-Torres, 20 and Russell Jordan-Jones, 23, all died after they suffered gun wounds.
The name of the seventh and eighth victims are not known.
Boys aged 13 and 15 were victims of a shotgun attack in Harrow on May 6, 2018, as a 22-year-old man became the fourth person shot in the capital over the Bank Holiday weekend in New Cross.
In June 2018, a man was airlifted to hospital in Southwark, South London, after witnesses reported he was shot in the face with a shotgun.
On August 20, 2018, three people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside Kingsbury Tube station, north west London.
A woman, 30, and two men - aged 18 and 24 - were rushed to hospital with gun shot wounds.
One victim was seen lying in a pool of his own blood after being gunned down in the triple shooting outside Kingsbury Tube station.

- October 22 Ethan Nedd-Bruce, 18, was shot dead in Greenwich.
- December 11 Richard Odunze-Dim, 20, was fatally shot in Edmonton, north London. Police are appealing for witnesses.
The Sun offers £50k reward for info to help lock up Tanesha Melbourne’s killer
THE Sun is offering a £50,000 reward to catch the killer of drive-by shooting victim Tanesha Melbourne.
Our posters have gone up at the scene in Tottenham, North London, where trainee hairdresser Tanesha, 17, was caught in a gang-related shooting. Her family said she was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
Shopkeeper Erdal Duman put up a Sun £50,000 reward poster in the window at Dogus Supermarket, where Tanesha was a customer and just 20ft from where she died. Erdal, 44, said: “It is very tragic. Someone must know something.”

What are the latest gun crime statistics?
The umbrella term "gun crime" covers lethal weapons as well as non lethal weapons, and describes all offences where a gun has been used.
Overall, gun crime was in decline up until 2014 but has been steadily increasing since.
Between 2016 and 2017 the number of cases rose from 2,193 to 2,542, according to Metropolitan Police data.
In 770 of those cases, a gun was fired.

The number of lethal guns fired has increased by around 20 per cent since 2012.
Across England and Wales there were 6,694 recorded offences up to October 2017 - a 20 per cent rise.
The Office for National Statistics said knife and gun offences were "disproportionately concentrated" in London and other metropolitan areas.
