Family of hero Hither Green pensioner Richard Osborn-Brooks ‘BANNED’ from speaking to him after he’s moved to safe house
THE family of home-defending pensioner Richard Osborn-Brooks have been banned from speaking to him while he hides in a police safe house, relatives have claimed.
Mr Osborn-Brooks and his ill wife Maureen, 76, have abandoned their Hither Green home after he killed a screwdriver-wielding burglar as he raided the property.
Tensions have escalated since the family of the career criminal Henry Vincent defiantly built a shrine outside the OAP's home.
It has been pulled down twice by local vigilantes.
Police fear traveller pals of Vincent might seek revenge on the 78-year-old pensioner after death threats were made.
“I think police are watching his calls. There is no way I can forward anything to him," the relative told the .
“I think there’s someone in my family, I don’t know who, who liaises with the police about it. We know nothing more.”
Mr Osborn-Brooks is expected to sell his semi-detached property in south east London because he and his wife are too scare to return after the botched burglary.
A friend said: “They’re waiting for the dust to settle before they put it on the market.
“It’s the fact that they could come back and that his wife is disabled. They could terrorise him. It’s not safe.”
On Friday, workmen from a firm specialising in security, remote video and fire detection were spotted at the house.
Iain Gordon, a local resident filmed ripping down floral tributes to Vincent, fears his life is in danger after becoming embroiled in the incident.
Waving placards reading "stick your flowers where the sun don't shrine", enraged Mr Gordon pictured back outside the Hither Green property where locals and travellers have been 'at war' over the killing.
