Boy, nine, in second car hit by Ant McPartlin in drink-drive crash feared he was dying
A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy was left screaming "I'm dying mummy" after his family's car was hit by drunk-driver Ant McPartlin.
The TV presenter today admitted to being twice over the legal limit, with the court told how one of the boys involved in the crash was left severely shaken.
McPartlin appeared morose as he pleaded guilty to drink-driving after colliding with two cars as he tried to overtake another car on a bend and lost control in Richmond, South West London, last month.
But while the Saturday Night Takeway presenter apologised profusely, Wimbledon Magistrates Court heard how the victims of the crash were left terrified and fearing for their lives.
In one of the cars was a nine-year-old boy, with an impact statement by his mother read to the court by prosecutor Katie Sinnett-Jones.
The statement read: "I immediately looked over to my son to make sure he was OK.
"He said 'I'm dying Mummy, I'm dying'."
The young child was not badly hurt, but was seriously shaken.
Another four-year-old girl, Amaira Dandekar, had to be taken to hospital after the collision, with her parents Shilpa and Faheem Vanoo also receiving treatment.
In the aftermath, restaurant boss Faheem told The Sun: "I don’t care whether he’s a millionaire and I don’t care whether he’s a famous TV star — he could have put my daughter in a wheelchair.”
McPartlin today tried to draw a line under the horror crash as he told magistrates he was guilty and ready to take his punishment.
The court was told that McPartlin had apologised to police over what had happened, saying that he was "ashamed and mortified" over the crash.
He admitted that he had "emotional issues", with his defence team saying he hoped "he can be forgiven by the many people he has let down".
McPartlin will now battle to repair the damage done to his career.
After he was charged, ITV announced the Saturday Night Takeaway host would step back from his TV commitments, with co-presenter Declan Donnelly hosting the final two episodes of the show on his own.
McPartlin appeared alongside Donnelly on TV screens over the weekend as Britain's Got Talent aired its pre-recorded audition shows.
