A SUSPECTED fraudster allegedly claimed his dad died in the Grenfell Tower inferno to get cash and a free hotel stay.

Mohammad Ali Gamoota, 31, claimed they lived on the 24th floor of the North Kensington block when a fire ripped through it in June last year, killing 72.

He is accused of applying for a £5,000 grant and stayed in a hotel paid for by a victims’ fund.

But he was arrested in October after cops discovered he lived in Croydon and his dad lives abroad.

The Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged with fraud relating to the Grenfell Tower fire.

“Mohammad Ali Gamoota, 31, of Westminster was charged on Tuesday, 17 April with two counts of fraud by false representation.

“He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 18 April.”

Gamoota, now of Westminster, will face city JPs today charged with fraud.
