Gogglebox star George Gilbey denies ‘drunkenly battered girlfriend before smashing up home’
GOGGLEBOX star George Gilbey will stand trial accused of beating his girlfriend and smashing up her home.
The 34-year-old, who shot to fame with his parents on the Channel Four show, is charged with assaulting ex Gemma Conway at her Twickenham property last month.
Today at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court Gilbey pleaded not guilty to assault by beating or criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
After his not guilty pleas Gilbey, of Clacton on Sea, will face an afternoon-long trial.
Police allege that Gilbey assaulted his former partner Ms Conway by beating, and while he was there he criminally damaged her property.
Chairman of the magistrates Helen Jones told him: "You have heard what has been said.
"This matter has been set down for trial on June 1 in the afternoon."
The professional telly-watcher is understood to have left his home and is now back living with mum Linda and step-dad Pete, who he found fame with on Gogglebox.
Gilbey and Gemma had been together since 2015 and a year later had their daughter Amelie Gilbey in June 2016.
