Police investigating anti-Semitic email sent to Labour MP Ruth Smeeth

POLICE are set to investigate after a Labour MP was called a “Jew whore”.

The insult was in an email sent to Ruth Smeeth, who is Jewish, after she spoke in the Commons during an anti-Semitism debate.

A member of her office confirmed to The Sun on Sunday the email had been passed to police.

She finished her speech at 5.54pm and got the email five hours later.

The message, sent by a Paul Gallagher, called her six-minute intervention in the debate a “rant”.

It added: “F*** off Jew whore” before signing off calling her “vermin”.

The revelation comes as Jeremy Corbyn struggles with the anti-Semitism row engulfing his party.

• MR Corbyn “turned his back” on the anti-Semitism debate on Tuesday for a tea break, Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said, adding: “I saw him leave the chamber. He looked very uncomfortable.”
