Brexit Secretary David Davis hints he may quit Cabinet because of Britain’s customs union row
DAVID Davis hinted he could quit the Cabinet last night over the bitter row Britain’s future customs relationship with Brussels.
It came as the Theresa May insisted she did not regret appointing Sajid Javid as Home Secretary despite him torpedoing her tariff partnership plans at a tense No10 showdown on Wednesday.
The Brexit boss said his resignation was “not imminent” but refused to rule it out as he defended government divisions over how closely tied the UK should stay to Brussels rules.
He said “we are taking time to get this right.”
Last night No10 insisted that a solution was a “priority” but The Sun understands her Brexit war cabinet will not discuss the plans again for two weeks.
Instead the 11 strong inner Brexit planning team will discuss what happens if talks collapse next week, before returning to the testy customs issue the following week.
