Ex-Tory MP Harvey Proctor launches £1million lawsuit against Met Police
The 71-year-old says his life was destroyed by the multi-million pound Operation Midland
FORMER Tory MP Harvey Proctor yesterday launched a £1million lawsuit against the Met Police for hounding him over fake child sex claims.
The 71-year-old says his life was destroyed by the multi-million pound Operation Midland, based on “the ravings of a fantasist”.
Accuser “Nick” made accusations against public figures including former PM Sir Edward Heath and ex-minister Leon Brittan.
Mr Proctor’s home was searched in March 2015.
He was twice quizzed under caution about claims that he raped, tortured and murdered boys in the 1970s and 80s.
He was left broke and had to live in a friend’s shed.

Mr Proctor said: “I wish it hadn’t come to this, but the Met has refused compensation for devastation it has caused to my life. Basic research would have shown these claims to be false. They have ruined my life and cost the taxpayer millions.”
He is also suing Nick for “false, malicious and defamatory” allegations.
A report attached to the claim states Mr Proctor has suffered “low mood, irritability and tearfulness” in the last two years.
The Met said: “We will be filing a defence.”
