Grenfell Tower safety sheet could be pulled down at a cost of £400k…because it’s the wrong COLOUR

A WHITE safety sheet covering the burnt out remains of the Grenfell Tower could be replaced at a cost of £400,000 - because it's the wrong colour.
Campaigners want the plastic sheet to be green - arguing that the white colour will mean the building will be harder to see, and therefore be forgotten.
Officials made the decision to cover the tower after it was warned the sight of the blackened building could be more traumatic for locals - but friends of survivors of the blaze told the colour was wrong.
One said: "We wanted it to be a vivid colour so that this devastating tragedy would not be forgotten.
"But officials simply ignored us and started putting up a white one."
"The anniversary is coming up and this is already a traumatic time for those affected by the fire.
"Now we will have to commemorate the dead with the charred remains still dominating the skyline. Once again, we have been ignored and neglected."
Some groups claimed that they had asked for the safety sheet to be green months ago - with the colour having been used as part of commemorations since the tragedy in June last year.
Grenfell United, a group which represents those impacted by the blaze that claimed 71 lives, said despite their requests, they were ignored.
A spokesperson said: "Survivors, bereaved and the community agreed with the Government two things last year – that the tower would be covered and would be covered in green to reflect the wishes of the community and ensure that what happened would never be forgotten.
The bill to replace the plastic sheet could reach as high as £400,000, the news outlet claimed.
The tower still has not been completely covered - with fears that the process won't be done in time for the first anniversary of the tragedy, June 14.
London Local Authority Gold, which is responsible for the building, said a decision would be made "in due course".
A spokesperson said: "‘We continue to consult closely with the community. The wrapping of the tower is by its nature a sensitive issue and one which many people have understandably strong views on."
