Cricket ace Andrew Flintoff arrested over Bank Holiday ‘bust-up’ while out with his family
Flintoff, 40, was taken to a police station in Cheshire just after 2pm and was quizzed for several hours. He strongly denies any wrongdoing
CRICKET hero Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff was arrested on Sunday over an alleged bust-up while out with his family.
The England Ashes star, 40, was taken to a police station in Cheshire just after 2pm and quizzed for several hours.
Flintoff strongly denies any wrongdoing.
His wife Rachael last night denied her husband had been in any bother.
Speaking outside their £2.7million home in Altrincham, Gtr Manchester, she said: “He hasn’t been arrested.
“It’s all wild rumours. I’m fine, we’re fine.”
The Sun understands ex-Lancashire all-rounder Freddie expected to be released without charge.
During his illustrious cricket career, Flintoff was known for his hellraising antics off field.
The nation witnessed his boozy celebrations after the Ashes win in 2005. And two years later he drunkenly took a pedalo out at night while on tour in the Caribbean.
But the dad of three — who now has a lucrative TV and radio career — has changed his lifestyle in recent years.
While on the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity in 2015 he admitted he gave up drinking to help his mental health.
Earlier that year, Flintoff had a jokey exchange with Cheshire police on Twitter.

He tweeted that he had received a notice from cops after Rachael accidentally drove away from a petrol station without paying.
When local officers said they’d “be around later”, Freddie replied: “Just to clarify it was the wife’s crime @WilmslowNPU so feel free to come round and take her!”
The first episode of his new Sky 1 show Carnage aired at 8pm on Sunday.
