Boris Johnson ‘fed up with Theresa May’s dithering over Brexit and believes he is the only Leave champion left’

BORIS JOHNSON is “fed up” with Theresa May’s dithering over Brexit and believes he is the only Leave champion left, pals claimed yesterday.

As the bitter Tory civil war over Brexit deepened, allies of the Foreign Secretary raised fresh fears over his very future in the Cabinet.

One told The Sun: “Boris is completely fed up. He thinks he is the only one pushing Brexit now.

“I don’t think it’s a resignation thing at the moment.”

The extraordinary comments came a day after No.10 was accused of reviving Project Fear by sending Business Secretary Greg Clark out to champion the idea of a customs partnership after Brexit.

The partnership would mirror the current customs union and see Britain collect tariffs on behalf of the EU to guarantee ‘frictionless’ trade with the bloc.

Boris Johnson and five other Cabinet Ministers voted against it at a ‘War Committee’ last week – saying it would essentially keep Britain in the EU.

But Mr Clark on Sunday insisted the plan had NOT been killed off.

Pro-EU Tory MP Nicky Morgan blasted Eurosceptic Tories – likening them to cry babies.

In an article for the Conservative Home website she said: “I think many of them are like toddlers who want their favourite toy and stamp their feet with frustration.”

Theresa May’s chief Brexit adviser Olly Robbins is thought to have been told to draw up new ideas for post-Brexit customs relationship – which can minimise border checks on goods while ensuring no ‘hard’ border in Ireland.

Veteran Eurosceptic John Redwood insisted there were at best 10 Tories who “don’t like Brexit” and he accused them of plotting with the EU and opposition to “dilute it”.
