Shocking CCTV footage captures moment barmaid took painful plunge down flight of stairs into pub’s cellar
Amy Phillips had accidentally left the hatch to the cellar open causing her to fall feet first into the 11 foot hole at De Beers pub in Paisley, Renfrewshire
THIS is the painful moment a barmaid fell feet first into a cellar leaving her battered and bruised.
Amy Philips was restocking the bar when she forgot to close the hatch - sending her tumbling 11 foot down into the bar's cellar.
The 21-year-old was left with bruises, swollen ankles and cut shins following the fall at De Beers pub in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
But thankfully she saw the funny side and uploaded the video to social media with the caption: "So I fell down the cellar in work :).”
She added in the comments: “I can laugh now but literally thought I was gonna die.
“It gets funnier the more you watch it. Actually keep howling at it.”
It has now been viewed more than 31,000 times and shared over 240 times since it was posted on Friday after Amy's fall.
The video starts off innocently with Amy going about her business, moving crates and carrying boxes.
But after a while the footage shows her flying down the flight of stairs with her arms outstretched in an attempt to cushion her landing.
And she told how she suffered with a fat foot, a dented shin and two burst knees following the trip.
Speaking today, Amy said: “It was only an hour and a half into my shift. I went downstairs to get some stock and came up, completely forgetting I had left the hatch open, and I put the stock in the shelf and turned round to walk back round to the front of the pub.
“That’s when I went flying down the stairs. I think it was about 10 or 11 foot drop.
“The video doesn’t do it justice as there’s a flag that cuts out the top of the stairs.
“I went to the hospital yesterday but nothing was broken thankfully, it could have been a lot worse. I’m still sore and covered in cuts and bruises. I’m very lucky.”
