PRINCE Charles and Meghan Markle have reportedly developed a close bond in the months leading up to today's Royal Wedding.
36-year-old Meghan asked Charles to walk her down the aisle after her own father, Thomas, pulled out.
It is a sign of the pair's warm relationship, with Meghan said to have been especially touched by the Prince meeting her mum, Doria, at Clarence House for tea.
A source told The Times : "They have spent a lot of time together.
"She was particularly touched by the welcome that the Prince of Wales provided to her mother.
"It was really lovely.
"The prince and the Duchess of Cornwall were incredibly warm towards her."
Former Suits actress Meghan was tipped to choose Doria to walk her down the aisle, in a first for the Royal family, but instead picked Charles, who has also been closely involved in the planning of the cermeony.
She is believed to have talked the decision over with fiance Harry before approaching Charles to ask if we would do the honour.
Charles was "delighted" to be asked, another source said, but keen to make sure the decision was all Meghan's.
They said: "He was very keen to make sure it really was what she wanted rather than it being anything suggested to her.

"Having talked to her and been reassured that that was what she wanted, he was very touched and only too happy to help."
In a twist with tradition though, Charles will only be meeting Meghan about halfway down the aisle.
Instead, she will enter St. George's Chapel alone, with the eyes of the world upon her.
He has also helped the couple choose some of the music for the ceremony - although he is thought to have helped them pick the orchestral music, rather than the Ben E King song Stand By Me, which the happy couple will be serenaded with.
