GIRLFRIEND'S PLEA

Girlfriend ‘begged gun-toting moped pair not to kill boyfriend for his Rolex’

Danny Pearce, 31, was attacked by two masked men on a moped armed with a gun and foot-long-knife, a court heard

THE girlfriend of a man stabbed to death for his Rolex watch begged his attackers to spare his life, a court heard.

Stephanie Holland, who had been dating 31-year-old Danny Pearce for a year, said he was attacked by two men wearing balaclavas and motorcycle helmets armed with a gun and knife.

The couple had just left Oliver's jazz club in Greenwich shortly after midnight on 15 July when they were confronted by the masked men.

She ran for her life down a dark street at midnight but soon, to her horror, realised her partner was not behind her.

Ms Holland next saw Mr Pierce staggering out from between two parked cars with blood streaming down his face.

He was then led away and stabbed repeatedly by one of the attackers who prosecutors claimed was Jordan Bailey-Mascoll, 25.

Giving evidence at Woolwich Crown Court, Ms Holland said she tore the £5,000 Rolex watch from her lover's wrist and tossed it down to his attackers, who sped off on a moped into the night.

Ms Holland wept as she told the court: "The person on the right had a firearm and the one on the left had a knife. They were of average height but larger than me."

She added: "They were asking to hand over the watch. I though it was a joke at first but then when the gun was shot I just ran. The gun was shot several times.

"I went half way down the street and then I turned back and saw that Danny was not there, so I ran back to where we were.

"He was in-between two cars. He was bleeding from his forehead. One of the guys followed him up the steps. I did not see the other guy.

Bailey-Mascoll, of no fixed address, admitted manslaughter but denied murder, possession of a firearm, possession of an imitation firearm and robbery. The trial continues.
