Twitter down for users around the world as thousands report social network crashing
Frustrated users took to other social media platforms to vent their anger after being greeted by an error message on the site
TWITTER users have told of their frustration after the social media site went down around the world.
People trying to access the site in Britain and elsewhere on the continent are greeted with an error message.
The message reads: “Something is technically wrong.
“Thanks for noticing—we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.”
Website Downdetector showed a spike in people reporting problems just after 8pm.
The outage mainly affected Britain and mainland Europe but users in other parts of the world also reported problems.
Frustrated users took to Facebook and other social media platforms to vent their anger.
One wrote: “Twitter is down no please no.”
Another said: “God damnit. Twitter is down on me when I need it the most....”
A third posted: “What is going on?? My feed won’t refresh on twitter or anything. UGH GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.”
Some users have since reported the site was back up.
It is not clear what caused the outage.
