But Anthony McGrath, fashion journalist and editor-in-chief of male fashion blog Clothes Make The Man, is not a fan.

He said: “Socks and sandals was the last style taboo and one I thought was never coming back.

When I see men in shorts, sandals and those knee-high socks, my first thought is, ‘Did you dress in the dark’? It looks terrible.

“There’s a host of pleasing footwear to keep you cool but stylish. One of my top recommendations are TOMS slip-on canvas shoes.

Flip-flops and sliders are also good if you want to get your feet out.”
