A loose bolt in the ride at a funfair in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India, caused the carriage to crash to the ground - the ride operator was beaten up by horrified locals shortly after the incident
A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl in India has died after she was thrown 50ft and landed on the ground while riding a faulty ferris wheel.
In a disturbing video, the ride operating at a funfair in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India, is spinning fast and the girl is thrown from her carriage onto the ground.
Horrified weekend crowds watched the car loosen and crash to the ground - they can be heard screaming in the video.
The 10-year-old girl, who is known only as Amrutha, died immediately at the scene, and the six other people in the same carriage were taken to hospital and treated for serious injuries.
They were transported to Anantapur General Hospital for treatment.
Apparently a bolt in the carriage had loosened and the carriage on the faulty ferris wheel broke off, plunging its occupants into a 50ft fall to the ground.
Witnesses rushed to help the people who were thrown from the ride.
Eyewitnesses claim they had noticed the loose bolt on the ride and alerted the wheel operator, but he failed to investigate the problem.
After the incident he was beaten and abused by locals, then later rescued and handed over to the police.
Earlier this year, a woman at Funderpark fair in west London was thrown 20ft from a ride and knocked unconscious.
A 23-year-old man in China died after his seatbelt unexpectedly opened while on a ride at a theme park.
He was thrown from the 60ft ride and taken to hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving because of a fatal head injury.
