Prince Charles due to give evidence at public inquiry into convicted paedophile bishop
PRINCE Charles is set to give evidence to a public inquiry into a paedophile bishop.
Peter Ball was jailed for 32 months in 2015 for abusing young men from the 1970s to the 1990s.
The handling of allegations against him is being probed by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.
Inquiry counsel Fiona Scolding QC yesterday said witness statements had been requested from the prince and his principal private secretary.
In a transcript on the inquiry website, she said: “The Prince’s solicitors have indicated their client’s willingness to assist us and have raised a number of important issues for us to consider.
“This has led to lengthy and complex discussions and we are currently considering the latest points.”

Charles, had exchanged letters with former Bishop of Gloucester Ball, 86, whose diocese covers Highgrove, the prince’s country home.
Charles’s spokesman last year said the letters contained nothing of relevance to the clergyman’s offending.
It is understood Charles is not required to provide evidence so a statement would be voluntary.
