Kim Jong-un ‘extremely afraid of being assassinated’ during Donald Trump Singapore summit… and experts say he’s right to be

Two US officials with knowledge of the upcoming summit reportedly claimed Kim Jong-un is concerned

KIM Jong-un is "extremely worried" he will be assassinated on his way to the historic summit with US President Donald Trump next week, reports claim.

It comes as Trump expressed his desire to invite the North Korean leader to the White House if the meeting at the £8,000-a-night luxury resort in Singapore goes smoothly.

close to the negotiations as saying Kim is concerned "about security at the summit and is fearful of assassination attempts".

The despot, who does not have an air force to command, may be vulnerable to attack because he will most likely be travelling on a civilian airline, .

And despite agreeing to the summit, Kim is still widely believed to think the US has a ";hostile policy" against him and would welcome a regime change.

There have also been reports of countries, including China, looking into ways of removing the leader by force.

It was rumoured the Chinese were planning to use Kim's uncle Kim Jong-nam, who was himself assassinated, to overthrow the dictator.

And in December, South Korea unveiled a crack team trained by Seal Team Six to kill the rogue leader.

Kim's fears are revealed on the same day Trump announced he would welcome the "supreme leader" to his home.

"Maybe we'll start with the White House," he told reporters at a press conference alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

But the former reality TV star also admitted he was "totally prepared to walk away" from the meeting, due to take place in Singapore on Tuesday.

Trump's lawyer, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, today claimed the North Korean despot "got on his hands and knees and begged" for the summit to go ahead.

But it is back on and the leaders are due to meet at the very upmarket, £8,000-a-night Capella Hotel on Singapore's Sentosa Island on Tuesday.

Designed by the same British architect who conceptualised the Gherkin in London, the resort has reportedly been taken over for the summit.
