Meghan Markle and the Queen’s Chester visit – when is the Mersey Gateway Bridge opening and what’s the itinerary?
THE Queen took Meghan Markle under her wing as the former actress eased into her new royal role as the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan accompanied the monarch by train to Chester with the pair having a full day of official engagements, including opening the Mersey Gateway Bridge.

When is the Mersey Gateway Bridge opening?
The royals arrived at Runcorn station by Royal Train on June 14 where they were warmly welcomed before leaving by car for the Mersey Gateway Bridge.
They will be greeted by architects, planners and community representatives.
The Queen, 92, and Meghan, 36, will view the bridge and watch a group of local school kids perform 'Bringing Communities Together: Halton's river crossings over the ages'.
Her Majesty will then unveil a plaque to mark the opening of the bridge.

What is the itinerary?
After opening the bridge The Queen and the Duchess will travel by car to the Storyhouse cultural centre in Chester where they will be given a tour of the building and visit the children's library.
They will stop to meet a Syrian group engaged in craft work.
A dance theatre company for people in recovery from addiction, will perform Fallen Angels.
A medley of songs from Storyhouse's latest production, A Little Night Music will be performed.

The royals will also meet actors from the production of Swallows and Amazons and primary school kids will perform songs.
Her Majesty will also unveil a plaque to mark the official opening of Storyhouse.
The Queen and Meghan will then walk to Chester Town Hall where they will attend a lunch as guests of Chester City Council, which will mark the conclusion of their visit to Cheshire.

This is the Duchess's first royal engagement with the monarch.
Meghan was without new hubby Prince Harry as she accompanied the Queen to Chester.
She is also among a select group of royals who have travelled on the Royal Train.
