THOMAS Markle Sr hinted today that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be welcoming a baby sooner rather than later.
The 73-year-old revealed the former actress had wanted children for "a long time" - and was fully expecting to become a grandfather soon.
It was the first time that the recluse has spoken out since the Royal Wedding and also revealed how proud he was of Meghan and how he had cried as he watched the service at St George's Chapel.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain today, Thomas said he was "absolutely" expecting Meghan and Prince Harry to be welcoming a baby in the future.
He said: "She's wanted children for a long time and when she met Harry and how much she loved him, there's got to a be a child soon.
"I don't think the stork has hit the air yet but it'll happen sooner or later."
But Thomas said he didn't know how many kids the newlyweds would want, saying: "That's really going to be up to them."
It comes as bookies have slashed the odds of Meghan and Harry having a kid within the year.
Ladbrokes make it a 4/6 chance that the newlyweds make an announcement in 2018 they are expecting their first child.
And he revealed he was "desperate" to meet his new son-in-law.
The American said he had already spoken to the 33-year-old royal on the phone, saying: "He's quite easy to talk to, he's quite a comfortable person to talk to. I wasn't nervous."
Thomas heaped praise on the royals and how they have welcomed his 36-year-old daughter into the fold.
But he added that she was an "improvement" on the royal family, saying the addition of a bi-racial person into the family was "long overdue".
He said: "I think it's long overdue. I think it's an improvement on the royal family and an improvement for England."
In the wide-ranging interview, Thomas also revealed he couldn't wait for his health to improve so that he could visit his daughter and meet the in-laws, including the Queen.
Mr Markle planned to make the trip to the UK from Mexico, where he is spending his retirement, to attend the wedding and had even been spotted looking up the latest on the happy couple online.
But it was revealed he had staged the pictures with the paparazzi - something he has since apologised for, saying it was "a serious mistake but it was hard to take it back".
On May 14, it emerged he had been struck down by a heart problem and pulled out of the ceremony after realising he was too ill to make the trip.
Thomas said: "I'd love to meet the Queen. I've had respect for that woman since I was a child, and I would love to meet her."

Thomas said he had cried as he watched the Royal Wedding on TV, adding: "The unfortunate thing for me now is I'm a footnote in one of the greatest moments in history rather than the dad walking her down the aisle."
But said: "I was honoured. I can't think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles.
"It might have been a treat for him as well because he didn't have a daughter."
