His devastated mum Maxine has said she is "in bits" over the tragedy as his sister Jade revealed the last conversation they had.

She told : "The Sunday night when he went out he told us he was going painting because it was a regular thing he did.

"As a family, we love him and worry about him, but it was a normal thing for him to go out.

"I don’t think we realised the extent of the risks he was taking. He was a sensible boy, he loved his family. I just can’t understand it."

The grafitti artists - dubbed The Three Musketeers - are believed to have walked up the tracks from Brixton on Sunday night and were spotted holding spray paint.

Their bodies lay undiscovered for six hours after they were struck by a train and could only be identified through their fingerprints.

Tributes from street artists have since flooded in for the tragic trio - including a mural featuring the three men's graffiti tags: 'Lover', 'K-Bag' and 'Trip' on the side of a Tube train.

Paying tribute to her son, Maxine, 52, said: "Jack loved art and his talent was recognised at school.

"There is a mural outside a train station which he did — he was in the local paper. We were proud of his art.

"He would regularly go to the Tate Gallery. It was a passion of his. He liked to paint everything. He worked in watercolours and pastels.

"When we went to France on holiday, he did landscapes and was also a talented portrait painter. He drew cartoon characters for his nieces. The eclectic brain he had was just amazing."
