Man chiselled free by firefighters after his foot gets stuck in melted Tarmac in Newcastle
The melted Tarmac created a sinkhole from which the man was unable to release his leg
A MAN was left trapped when his foot went through the road after scorching temperatures melted the Tarmac.
The 24-year-old’s left leg was stuck deep in but he reached his phone and called firefighters.
They used a hammer and chisel to free him in the aptly named Newcastle suburb of Heaton.
A brigade spokesman said: “We were called to a back lane where a man was on his way to buy breakfast and went straight through the road.
“The Tarmac had become so soft it melted.”
