Tommy Robinson and Donald Trump supporters could clash in London this weekend, cops fear.

Members from the “Welcome Trump” protest group will hold a rally from the US Embassy to Whitehall on Saturday during the President's first official UK visit.

But the Met Police has “serious concerns” about the protest this weekend because the pro-Trump supporters will clash with the “Free Tommy Robinson” rally.

On June 9, supporters demanding that the former EDL leader should be “freed” from prison clashed with police in central London.

Robinson, 35, was jailed for 13 months after he filmed people involved in a criminal trial at Leeds Crown Court and broadcast the footage on social media.

During last month's protest, nine people were arrested after the group threw bottles, metal barriers and objects at officers – injuring five cops in the process.

And cops now fear they could experience similar scenes this weekend as anti-Trump groups will also be on the streets.

It comes as a blimp depicting the President, 72, as a screaming baby wearing a nappy is set to be flown over London during his visit.

And in a bid to limit the chaos, conditions have today been put in place and each protest group is under strict guidelines on Saturday.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “In order to prevent serious disorder and disruption to Londoners, conditions have been imposed on the ‘Welcome Trump’ procession.

“The protest group ‘Welcome Trump’ has stated its intention to hold a procession from the US Embassy to Whitehall, where it will join the ‘Free Tommy Robinson’ rally at this location.

“Both events are due to take place on Saturday and the conditions have been imposed due to concerns of serious public disorder and disruption to the community.

“A recent event involving the ‘Free Tommy Robinson’ group on June 9, resulted in serious violence in central London.

“A significant policing operation will be in place for the duration of both events on 14 July, which is designed to prevent trouble from flaring up and facilitate peaceful protest.

“Dedicated teams of highly flexible officers will be on standby at key locations in the Capital. Police Liaison Officers will be present to assist with engagement for peaceful protest."

Chief Superintendent Elaine Van-Orden added: “We police hundreds of public events and demonstrations in Central London every year and we always facilitate peaceful protest.

“We have such serious concerns about this event on Saturday that we have made the decision to impose conditions under the Public Order Act.

“We have a duty to ensure that the community can go about their daily business not unduly impacted by demonstrations taking place.

“Our message is simple: if you wish to protest peacefully, that is your right and we want to work with you. If you commit criminal acts or breach the conditions of the event, you are liable to be arrested.”
