AN Indian man with the world's longest fingernails has clipped his 77-inch talons off for the first time in 66 years.
Shridhar Chillal's fingernails had a combined length of an astounding 31ft when he decided to finally get rid of them.
The 82-year-old from Pune, India, said he was constantly in pain because of his unsightly, brown claws.
He told Guinness World Records: "With every heart beat all five fingers, my wrist, elbow and shoulder are hurting a lot.
"At the tip of the nail there's a burning sensation always," said Chillal who has been growing them since he was 16.
He has now decided to donate them to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Times Square, the New York Post reported.
Despite his abnormally long nails, Chillal got married, had two kids and worked as a government press photographer.
The nails, however, eventually became a burden for the 88-year-old man, whose left hand is forever handicapped.
In 2015, Shridhar said they were extremely fragile and he needed to take care when sleeping.
He said: "I can’t move much, so every half an hour or so I wake up and move my hand to the other side of the bed.
Ripley’s Suzanne Smagala-Potts said it was "privileged to display this truly unique and one-of-a-kind exhibit".
She added: "Mr Chillal dedicated his life to something truly remarkable.
"While he may have cut his fingernails, his nails will be forever memorialised."
"When I had my nails I took special care of them because they're a very delicate part of our body.
"I took care of them for a lifetime. I spent 66 years of my life on my nails. I never have to wait in a queue."
The exhibit will be on display at the museum in New York starting Wednesday.
