Donald Trump accuses The Sun of ‘fake news’ over our world exclusive interview before admitting we were right
DONALD Trump accused The Sun of “fake news” over our world exclusive interview with him — only to then admit we were right all along.
In a press conference at Chequers, the US President claimed we failed to include the few nice comments he made about Theresa May.

He insisted: “I didn’t criticise the Prime Minister.
“I have a lot of respect for the PM.
"Unfortunately there was a story that was done that was generally fine, but it didn’t put in what I said about the Prime Minister, and I said tremendous things.
"It’s called fake news.”

Despite the criticism, Mr Trump still said The Sun’s journalists “seemed like two very nice people”.
Told by Mrs May one of them was in attendance, he said: “Oh good, where is that person? Did I say nice things about Theresa May, please?”
The Sun’s Political Editor then replied: “We reported them, Mr President.”
Climbing down, Mr Trump said: “Oh good, OK. If you reported them, that’s OK. I said very good things. Thank you very much for saying that.
“I didn’t think they put them in. They didn’t put them in the headline. I wish they had put it in the headline. It’s one of those things.”
But the President then dropped Mrs May in it by revealing she told him not to worry about The Sun’s interview as “it’s only the Press”.
The PM replied: “You’re going to antagonise them.”
During the conference, Mr Trump also spoke over a CNN journalist, saying: “CNN is fake news. I don’t take questions from fake news."
The Sun Says: Fake? Not Sun
WE wondered if President Trump might try to shoot the messenger when he realised how embarrassing his world exclusive Sun interview was to his host Mrs May.
We’re used to that, of course.
We’re not as used to seeing Mr Trump have the grace to back down when one of his “fake news” jibes is proved wrong, as it was yesterday.
That’s not just a special moment.
It’s the highest level of special.
