Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews’ son, 18, targeted by moped muggers in Lawless London

CORONATION Street star Sally Ann Matthews has slammed “vile” moped muggers who attacked her son in Lawless London.

Louis, 18, was targeted by the yobs who demanded he hand over his bike close to a Tube station.

The actress, who plays Jenny Connor, said luckily the train doors opened just in time for him to run on with his bike and escape.

The actress, 47, shared on Twitter: "To the group of youths on mopeds who approached my son outside the station and demanded his bike: Woe betide you if I get my hands on you, you little s**ts."

She added that Louis was "fine" after the attack and the family had logged the traumatic incident with the Metropolitan Police earlier this month.

It comes weeks after stand-up Michael McIntyre was robbed by thugs as he was waiting to collect his son, 11, from school in Hampstead, North West London.

The millionaire comedian was sitting in his £120,000 Range Rover when the moped yobs smashed his driver's window.

They demanded his Rolex watch at knife-point before speeding away from the scene.

A witness said: “Michael just stood there in shock and then comforted his son.

"It was terrifying to see, so I can’t imagine how they must have felt.”

London is a hot bed for the scooter attacks which are up 1,000 per cent in three years across the country.

London saw 16,000 scooter attacks in 2017 - up from just 1,053 in 2014.

Motorcycles have been used in crimes such as phone snatches, gem store raids and acid attacks.

Authorities said last year one gang carried out 30 robberies in the capital within an hour period.

In October 2016, a man was jailed for snatching 21 phones in one hour while riding a moped before he was chased down by a police helicopter.
