Camberwell stabbing – Family’s tribute to ‘joyful’ girl, 17, knifed to death in South London who ‘wanted to make everyone feel beautiful’

THE devastated family of a 17-year-old stabbed to death in lawless London have paid tribute to the "joyful and beautiful" teen.

Katerina Makunova was discovered slumped in a block of flats in Camberwell, South London, in broad daylight on Thursday.

Witnesses desperately tried to give her first aid before paramedics arrived but she was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Her brother Julius Makuna has now paid tribute to the tragic teenager, who was working at Aroma Hair and Beauty in Farnborough, Hants, after studying hair and beauty at college.

He told the : "She was a hardworking, confident and joyful girl. She could walk into the room and put a smile on everyone’s face.”

Katerina lived with her brother in Forest Hill and had dreams of doing humanitarian work as well as being a beautician.

She had been visiting a friend at the black of flats in nearby Camberwell when she was knifed.

Speaking on behalf of her mum, Julius added: "She was only at the ripe age of 17 when she tragically lost her life in such a horrible way. No parent should have to bury their child.”

The grieving family moved from Leeds to London eight years ago and are said to be "heartbroken and devastated".

Her sister-in-law Shannon Jodie-Leigh Butcher said: "I would like her to be remembered as a young, joyful and beautiful girl.

"Life will never be the same for us. We have lost a part of us that will live with us in our hearts forever.”

London has been gripped by violent crime this year, with at least 82 murders taking place in the capital.

The grisly figure meant London's homicide rate momentarily overtake that of New York.

Knife crime across the country has also risen by a staggering 21 per cent in the 12 months to September 2017, according to .

Stabbings in London are at their highest level in six years, with a 23 per cent rise from the previous year.

Oluwaseyi Dada, 21, of Camberwell, was due to appear at the Old Bailey today charged with manslaughter.
