Princess Eugenie and fiance Jack Brooksbank copy Meghan Markle for Royal Wedding at Windsor Castle
PRINCESS Eugenie will copy Meghan Markle and tie the knot at Windsor Castle this October.
The eighth-in-line to the throne will wed Jack Brooksbank at the romantic venue – making it the second time the Royal Family will descend on Windsor for a wedding this year.
And similarly to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s big day, the couple have invited 1,200 members of the public to attend their wedding on October 12.
Those who are successful in the ballot to attend will be able to watch the Royal Family arrive before seeing the bride and groom depart St George’s chapel at the end of the ceremony.
The procession will pass through the castle grounds before going through Windsor High Street.
Announcing the venue, the Royal Family said: “Also present in the Castle Grounds will be representatives of charities supported by Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, together with members of the Windsor community and children from the local schools which Her Royal Highness attended.”
The engagement was announced in early 2018.
Speaking about the proposal, Eugenie, 27, said she cried when Mr Brooksbank got down on one knee in a sunset proposal in Nicaragua earlier this year.
She said: “I was over the moon”.
Painting a romantic scene, the couple told BBC’s the One Show how the “sun was setting” over a picturesque lake and the “birds were flying” just before Mr Brooksbank popped the question.
She added: “The lake was so beautiful – the light was just a special light I had never seen.
“I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years.
“I was over the moon. [It was a] complete surprise. But it was the perfect moment, we couldn’t be happier.
“Granny actually knew right at the beginning [of the engagement]. We left her this weekend and had a lovely time and she was very happy, as was my grandfather.”
Eugenie’s parents, the Duke and his former wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, said they were delighted by the news.
Eugenie, 27, began dating Mr Brooksbank around seven years ago after they met while skiing in the Swiss resort of Verbier.
The Stowe-educated socialite was the manager of Mayfair hotspot Mahiki and now works as a wine merchant.
He previously worked at Chelsea’s Admiral Codrington and the Markham Inn where he first met Prince Harry.
