MEGHAN Markle’s dad Thomas has broken his silence after it was announced his daughter gave birth to a baby boy.
What has he said about his grandson and will Thomas meet him? Here's what we know.
What did Thomas say about Meghan giving birth?
Hours after it was announced that Meghan gave birth to a baby boy, Thomas Markle was delighted.
Thomas told The Sun he hoped the child would serve with "grace, dignity and honour".
“I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honour.
“GOD bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and GOD save the Queen.”
Will Thomas meet his royal grandson?
Sources close to the Duchess’s estranged father Thomas Markle told that he has no plans to travel to London to meet baby Sussex.
Unlike the royal wedding, when it was Thomas’s health that prevented him from giving his daughter away, TMZ say his reason for staying away is because “he's squarely persona non grata.”
The sources added that Meghan’s dad believes that he has been unable to reconcile things with his daughter because she is in "cone of silence."
Meghan's half-brother Tom Marke Jr has revealed his hope that Baby Sussex will heal the family rift.
He said: "Congratulations - I'm very happy for you both and I hope this baby will bring you all the joy in the world.
"All newborn babies bring entire families happiness and joy - they can even bring broken families back together again."
Thomas added: "Hopefully this baby will help mend the family rift - we'd all love to meet the baby and become a part of his life - especially my dad."
Did Thomas Markle have heart surgery?
At the time of the Royal Wedding, it was widely reported that Meghan’s dad would not be able to attend the nuptials and walk her down the aisle as he was suffering from heart trouble.
The former lighting director claimed he was due to undergo heart surgery that clashed with his daughter’s big day.
The news that he would not attend the Royal Wedding came just days after it emerged that he had staged paparazzi photographs in the run up to the big day.
He also claimed to have had a heart attack just days before the photos were taken.
However, reports have now surfaced that the recluse, who lives in Mexico, fabricated the situation due to the embarrassment of events in the lead up to the wedding.
When was his heart stent operation?
In an interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Thomas claimed to have had a heart stent fitted at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center in Tijuana, Mexico, on May 16, 2018.
The surgery would have been three days before Meghan married Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, making him too unwell to travel.
However, according to reports in the , the clinic has claimed that “no such name” had ever checked in to the hospital.
The source, who claims to be close to Meghan, claims the 74-year-old had fabricated the heart scare altogether.
The source added that the story was made up to save face following embarrassment over the staged paparazzi photos and the strained relationships between Meghan and her half-sister Samantha.
Reports also suggest that Thomas Markle has not had any contact with his daughter or new son-in-law in the past two months.

Speaking to the Sun, he said he is considering coming to England in an attempt to make peace with Meghan, who has made no efforts to connect with her dad.
But he told GMB he still held onto hope that he would be able to reconnect with his daughter, and eventually meet his grandchild.
