Lawyer slashed in the face with knife in horror attack outside Glasgow court

The 63-year-old was rushed to hospital with facial injuries after the attack on Carlton Place at around 6.30pm yesterday

A LAWYER has been scarred for life after being slashed in the face in a broad daylight knife attack outside a Glasgow court yesterday.

The 63-year-old was rushed to hospital with after the targeted attack near the city's Sheriffs Court on Carlton Place at around 6.30pm.

Police swooped in and sealed off the street while paramedics also attended and took him to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

A source revealed a bloody jacket was found at the scene as a manhunt was launched.

They are hunting for a man aged around 30, described as skinny with a gaunt appearance, who was wearing a grey hooded top.

The victim's  condition is stable and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector John Morrison said: "This was frankly a terrifying incident for the victim who was simply walking with his colleague when he was attacked.

"Our enquiries so far have revealed that the victim was the intended target, therefore this was not carried out at random.

"Nevertheless, it does not make it any less serious.

"The victim sustained very serious injuries in the attack and as a result, he will be left scarred for life.

"It is important that we trace the person responsible as soon as possible. He is dangerous and must be caught.

"Indiscriminate acts of violence such as this will not be tolerated.

"We would ask that anyone who may have witnessed the attack, or who may have any information which could assist with our enquiries to contact police as a matter of urgency."

It comes after a man was discovered “stabbed” nearby at Bridge Street subway.

The Sun told earlier how the  as emergency crews raced to the scene at around 3.50pm.
