A GLIDER pilot dubbed a “bit of a legend” for filming his exploits died in a crash dive in turbulent weather conditions, an inquest heard.
YouTube filmmaker Matt Wright, 47, made an error when he banked to the left, went into a spin and plunged into moorland from 200ft.
The jury heard he was also a commercial pilot with thousands of hours of flying experience.
Fellow glider pilot Matthew Williamson told the hearing at Exeter’s County Hall there was “very severe turbulence near to the ground” in Dartmoor.
They expected that and had experienced it many times before.
Dad-of-two Matt took off but suffered a cable break from the winch that propelled his glider.
