A GIRL was left in a critical condition after she fell and smashed her head while attempting the latest viral craze - the Kiki challenge.

Anna Worden, 18, had wanted to try the social media trend, which sees people jump out of a moving car and dance to Drake's song In My Feelings.

But the teenager, from Bettendorf, Iowa, tripped over as she got out of her car and hit her head on the ground, knocking her unconscious.

She was airlifted to hospital and put in an intensive care unit after suffering a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain following the accident on July 23.

Anna, who has been dancing since she was a toddler, is now having to learn to walk again.

She told : "We were over by the roundabout, and I thought it would be a fun idea to do the Kiki Challenge.

“The last thing I remember was opening the door.

“So apparently I got out and tripped and fell and hit my head.”

She was rushed by air ambulance to a hospital in Iowa city and placed in the ICU.

Anna said: “When we got here and I finally gained consciousness in the ICU, that’s when it hit me like wow, I’m actually in the University of Iowa hospitals because I tried to do some little challenge everyone’s doing now, and I’m the one that got majorly hurt."

She now wants to warn others about the risks involved with social media challenges.

The teen said: “Be more careful about the challenges and fads that are going around.

"It may seem fun, and it may seem easy, but at the same too, they could be so dangerous.”

The challenge was generated by Instagram comedian Shiggy, who filmed himself in the middle of the road dancing to Drake's new track.

He interpreted the lyrics "are you riding" by pretending to steer a car ane even makes a love heart with his hands as Drake sings, "Kiki, do you love me".

It became known as the Do The Shiggy dance and thousands of social media users, including celebrities such as Will Smith, have been posting footage of themselves doing silly dances to the hit song.

Police now fear it has now gone too far for comfort and say someone will be seriously injured or even killed because of the new challenge.
