Tributes to ‘heart of gold’ Brit, 23, killed in Ibiza street brawl as pals insist ‘he’s not the sort of lad to get in trouble’
The victim was due to fly home to the UK on the day he died
PALS of a British “heart of gold” holidaymaker killed in a street brawl in Ibiza have paid tribute to him insisting “he’s not the sort of lad to get in trouble.”
Conor Spraggs, 23, an antique removal worker from Stevenage, died at 3.30am local time on Sunday morning on the seafront promenade in the party resort of San Antonio.
Friends have told The Sun Online that his mother has flown out to Spain to collect his body and that a crowdfunding appeal has been started to raise the £12,000 needed to bring Conor home.
One pal said Conor had intended to go to the Boomtown music festival this week near Winchester, but had gone to Ibiza by himself instead.
The 23-year-old had never been to the Spanish party island before, friends claimed.
Bunches of flowers were placed on a bench close to his terraced house in Stevenage where he lived with his father.
One tribute read: "Conor 'My Guy' - something I'll miss saying.
“Your (sic) going to be so missed by so many in this town, but never forgotten. Keep a seat up there for me brother. Robbie."
Another person wrote: "Conor - I can't believe you're not here, you will be deeply missed.
“Stevo will never be the same. In our hearts you will never be forgotten. RIP bro Bernie.”
Grieving pals gathered outside his home.
One told The Sun: "He is not the sort of lad to get in trouble. I think he went out there alone so why would he be fighting with four others?
"I can't see him getting drunk if he was going home that day."
Another said: "I don't think he had been to Ibiza before and he went there alone."
Spanish cops have quizzed four suspects over his death.
Witnesses said Conor started insulting a group of five men and two women and got into a fight.
The other people involved in the brawl were also British, reports in the local press on Sunday said.
The nationalities of those under arrest was not officially confirmed.
But island newspaper Diario de Ibiza said four British nationals were being questioned by the Civil Guard before an expected court appearance later today or tomorrow.
An autopsy will attempt to determine if Conor, of Stevenage, Herts, was killed by a blow or from his head hitting the ground.
He had checked in alone on Thursday at the three star Hotel Bergantin in San Antonio and was due to leave on the day he died.
Friends set up and have already raised £3,000 of a £12,000 target to bring his body home.
The appeal says: “Conor was a gentle soul, with a heart of gold who is going to be deeply missed by family and friends and anyone who knew him.
“We are trying to raise enough money to fly his body home so he can be back with his family and put to rest in his home town.”
Ex-schoolmate Mollie Judge said: “Such sad news to hear. He was always such a lovely persons not a bad bone in his body. RIP Conor you'll be missed by everyone.”
Mitchell Shalgosky said: “Let’s get Conor home so everyone can give him the send-off that he deserves. Love you bro.”
Last week another Briton, 24-year-old Anwaar Lahrichi-Greenwood, was found drowned in San Antonio harbour.
His family believe he may have been killed and offered a £5,000 reward.
