COPS in Spain have found vendors selling cocktails to thirsty Brits on the beach are storing their ingredients in filthy DRAINS, it has emerged.
Shocking footage shows officers in Barcelona lifting manhole covers to reveal bottles, towels, straws, ice and glasses stored underground in putrid conditions.
The sellers flog the cocktails for around £5 each on the city’s beaches but officers are now cracking down on the illegal trade.
The concoctions are half the price of drinks sold at beach-front bars in upmarket Barcelona - but tourists risk falling ill by drinking the cocktails.
Cops in Benidorm are also mounting extra patrols in the Brits’ favourite resort to end the lucrative illegal trade.
Vendors flog trayfuls of drinks like Sex on the Beach and Pina Colada to tourists – telling them they are from nearby bars.
But the cocktails are actually knocked up in side streets, the backs of cars and vans and even in toilets using water not meant for drinking.
Sellers have been seen washing the fruit under showers designed to remove sand from the feet of beach-goers.
Police discovered some of the cocktail ingredients when they lifted drain covers.
Meanwhile in Benidorm, a British gran who complained too many Spanish people ruined her holiday has been accused of wanting to claim compensation.
