HOME Secretary Sajid Javid rapped the Prime Minister for blocking a better pay deal for the police, it emerged last night.
In an incredible leak, the Tory leadership contender accused Theresa May of making the “wrong decision” by turning down a 3 per cent increase.
The contents of the letter were revealed yesterday evening - 24 hours after fresh concerns over security following the Westminster attack.
In the document, seen by the , Mr Javid writes that he had been “strongly in favour” of the 3 per cent recommendation.

The astonishing direct attack on his boss will trigger a fresh bout of infighting over the future of the Tory party.
Mr Javid delayed a family holiday on Tuesday to remain in London following the Westminster attack.
The PM and Chancellor sanctioned a 2 per cent rise in July for 2018-2019, meaning an average pay rise of £38,600 per year.
In the letter Home Office officials outlined Mr Javid's views, which reads: "As you will be aware, the Police Remuneration Review Body recommended the consolidation of the 1 per cent non-consolidated award for police officers from 2017/18 and, following that consolidation, a 2 per cent consolidated increase for officers at all ranks from 1 September 2018.
“The Home Secretary was strongly in favour of this.”
It adds: "However, the Prime Minister and Chancellor have decided that officers should only be given a 2 per cent consolidated pay award, meaning only a small 1 per cent pay rise in reality.
“He continues to be of the view that this is the wrong decision."
When the pay award was announced Mr Javid, who has been widely tipped as a future Tory leader, was quoted as saying: "This award represents the highest consolidated pay award since 2010.
“I'll continue to fight on behalf of police to ensure they have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively."
It comes as Mrs My was accused of “stabbing police in the back” following the terrorist incident outside Parliament on Tuesday.
