Fellow lags sickened as Serial killer Rose West was ‘pampered’ in prison and given office to ‘sew in peace’
KILLER Rose West was given a “sewing office’” behind bars so she could do needlework in peace, a fellow lag has claimed.
The 64-year-old was said to have completed sewing tasks for other cons.
She even put up a sign outside, proudly saying “Threads”.
But the inmate changed it to read “Freds” — after Rose’s late serial killer husband Fred West.
The couple were responsible for the murder and torture of ten women in their house of horrors in Gloucester.
But the lag said Rose was treated like a celeb by staff in HMP Durham — before both were switched to HMP Low Newton.
Ex-con Katherine Jones, 52, said: “It made me sick to see how much they pampered this vile monster.
“The staff gave her a little office on the wing and she put up a sign saying ‘Threads’.
“But I changed it to ‘Fred’s’ — I don’t think she was happy about it. I used to shout down the wing, ‘Rose West’! She’d say, ‘Yes’? And I’d yell, ‘Fred wants ya’!”
Katherine, from Liverpool, had been serving life in jail for murder, but was released last month.
She added: “Doing time alongside Rose West was my punishment. I’m so glad I’ll never have to see her evil face again.”
