Dominic Raab to kick-start talks with EU officials as public Tory infighting re-erupts
DOMINIC Raab will kick start negotiations with Brussels tomorrow in a Brexit pincer movement - as a fresh bout of public Tory infighting erupted.
The exit boss will stare down Michel Barnier just hours before Ministers unveil a wave of No Deal scenario plans to show the EU and public they are prepared for talks to collapse.
Mr Raab will travel to Brussels after a three week summer truce with just eight weeks left to hammer out an EU deal before the crucial autumn deadline.
Then on Thursday Whitehall will begin publishing a slew of contingency plans on how they plan to keep the economy afloat next March if Britain crashes out of the bloc without a new trade deal in place.
Mr Raab will use a speech at the headquarters of the HMRC on the same day to try sooth business fears of a No Deal, with Ministers preparing to mirror Brussels customs rules and regulations on foods and medicines to avoid border chaos.
But fresh Tory civil war erupted as a senior Remain backing MP took public aim at the PM, joining with Brexiteers to urge her to ditch Brexit plans signed off by the Cabinet at Chequers last month.
Mrs May’s former policy adviser George Freeman warned her against “Faragite nationalism” and said Mrs May’s Brexit "resembles nothing more than a depressing, endless divorce argument between lawyers. Where’s the Brexit vision? Where’s the plan?”
Mr Freeman added: “The chances of getting our own bespoke deal are now very slim. We needed to have started two years ago, with a strong vision and a united Cabinet. That chance was blown.” Instead he urged the PM to accept an "off the shelve deal" from the EU.
Meanwhile a fashion boss's million quid donation to stop Brexit was branded a "remoaner stitch up".
Superdry founder Julian Dunkerton gave the cash to the People's Vote campaign who are hell bent on a second vote to try thwart our EU exit.
