MCSKILLET was an online gamer and YouTuber who commanded a large following of devoted fans.
The teen web star died in a 100mph motorway smash — in what reports claimed may have been an act of suicide.
Who was McSkillet?
McSkillet was a prominent YouTuber who filmed himself playing video games for legions of fans.
He earned a fortune both from advertising revenue on his videos and from trading "skins".
"Skins" are used customise guns and knives in the first-person shooter game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
But he was recently banned from an online marketplace for allegedly being involved in a skin gambling website called CS:GO Magic.
Dubbed the "king of skins" by fans, the ban allegedly lost him hundreds of thousands in income.
The 18-year-old reportedly suffered from mental health issues.
He was described as "very private" and never revealed his name or other personal information about himself.
McSkillet commanded a fan-base of nearly 900,000 YouTube subscribers and his videos would have viewing figures in the several millions.
Such was his fortune that he bought a $200,000 McLaren sports car — which was involved in the fatal crash.
How did McSkillet die?
The teen was killed in a high-speed motorway crash near San Diego California on 23 August 2018.
He was driving faster than 100mph in his car when he hit an oncoming SUV.
Two passengers in the other car, Aileen Pizarro, 43, and her daughter Aryana, 12, also died when the cars erupted into a fireball.
About eight other cars were involved in the ensuing pile-up — and eight other people were injured.
Grim photos from the crash site show mangled and charred wreckage strewn across the road.
