Jeremy Corbyn faces fury if ally who branded Jewish critics ‘Trump fanatics’ is re-elected to Labour’s governing body

Jeremy Corbyn will face an outcry from the Jewish community if Peter Willsman who branded his Jewish critics 'Trump fanatics' wins a place on Labour’s governing body

JEREMY Corbyn is poised to plunge into a fresh anti-Semitism storm today as an ally who branded his Jewish critics “Trump fanatics” is expected to be re-elected to Labour’s governing body.

Peter Willsman was widely condemned for declaring the party’s anti-Semitism crisis as “false” and suggesting it was a conspiracy by Britain’s Jewish community.

The party sparked outrage earlier this summer when it decided not to take action against Mr Willsman.

He got away with simply issuing an apology and referring himself to “equalities training” and stuck by his comments that anti-Semitism wasn’t “widespread” within Labour.

Today he is expected to be re-elected to the party’s powerful National Executive Committee along with eight other Constituency Labour Party representatives.

Labour sources said the hard-left Corbyn-backing Momentum group are overwhelmingly likely to win all eight other seats.

Insiders said it would represent a “clean sweep for anti-Semites and those who are ambivalent to anti-Semitism”.

Meanwhile Theresa May piled on pressure last night, urging the embattled Labour leader to respond to the “significant concerns” raised by Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks about anti-Semitism.

Speaking in Abuja, Nigeria the PM added: “Lord Sacks was a long-standing chief rabbi, he raised significant concerns but it’s not just him - members of the Labour Party have raised concerns as well. I think the leader of the Labour Party needs to respond to those concerns.”

Mrs May told reporters: “Anti-Semitism is racism. We should all condemn racism in all its forms.

Urging him to do more, she hit out: “When we have a Jewish MP saying that she is concerned about her own party and her position in her own party I think that is something that raises concerns, and something that needs to be addressed.”

Shamed Corbyn ally Peter Willsman refuses to answer questions on anti-Semitism

The Sun Says

WHAT a surprise. Labour’s new anti-Semitism probe will be an even more comprehensive whitewash than the last.

Shami Chakrabarti has already sold out her credibility to give Corbyn’s Jew-hating mob a virtual clean bill of health.

Now the man supposedly probing the tsunami of complaints against members reckons it’s all been cooked up to attack Corbyn. All those Jews living in fear? They must be imagining the whole thing.

Labour simply has no desire to root out its anti-Semitism. And why would it?

The leader himself is up to his neck in it.
