GROT’S IN A NAME

People with very rude-sounding names reveal their everyday struggles – from job interviews to spam filters

From being automatically marked as spam to being laughed at in person, some people's family names cause them a whole load of grief

PEOPLE with some very unfortunate surnames have come together to share their everyday struggles.

Spam filters and algorithms designed to prohibit offensive language mean that some people find simple tasks amusingly difficult to complete, from sending emails to buying health insurance.

Natalie Weiner shared a picture of her surname being deemed 'offensive language', but she quickly saw the funny side of the over-sensitive filter's conclusion.

She wrote: "This is without a doubt the best thing that's ever happened to me."

Others then replied to Natalie with tales of woe of their own caused by surnames like Suconcock, Gross and Medick.

And it's not just in the online world that rude surnames cause problems - people reported being laughed at, including even by employers in job interviews.
